The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

I am Deacon Mike Ryba, a Deacon for the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida. I have been using other social media outlets, i.e., Facebook, to post a daily reflection based on Scripture, happenings in my life, lessons learned, you name it, I might have something to say about it.

Although FB has been a great way to connect with others and to bring some comforting words to those who may be in need, it has also become a tool that people use with no regard to truth; “if it’s on FB, it must be true!” Instead of using social media for good, we perpetuate lies, half-truths, and continue to “rile up” the masses by posting and/or re-posting information that may or may not be accurate. Instead of taking time to review, research, and then react, we fall into the old adage of “Ready, Fire, Aim” (and I would have to include myself in that category at times). Instead of helping to stop the fire, we fan the flames until it becomes an inferno and then there is no stopping it.

So, I have left the FB world and have decided that the best way to get across a message, His message, of love, hope, and faith, is to use this blog to do so. I typically have a post on a daily basis but there are those times when life pulls me asunder and I don’t focus on what I need to do but, I do my best to get something out there each day.

As I begin my blogging journey, I look forward to walking the journey with you. A journey that I am sure will take us through many ups and downs but one that will ultimately bring us closer to our Lord, Jesus Christ.

If you feel there are those who could benefit from my daily musings, please share this blog with them.

I will end this journey with my favorite Scripture passage; “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” – John 3:16-17

Peace and Blessings on the journey.

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
